Notes

In loving memory of Donna Ruth Maschinot (nee Wagner) of Alexandria, KY.

Donna passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at St. Elizabeth in Edgewood, KY. She was born on February 4, 1950 and is preceded in death by her father, Albert J. Wagner (1921-2002), and mother, Ruth Catherine (Lauer) Wagner (1923-1967).

Donna is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 50+ years, Gary Maschinot, and her two loving and dedicated sons, Aaron Maschinot (Krista nee Roetger) of Salem, MA, and Gabriel Maschinot (Solana nee Henson) of Alexandria, KY. She was blessed with five grandchildren - Mercede Maschinot, Macy Maschinot, Ellis Maschinot, Atticus Maschinot and Paisley Maschinot. She is also survived by her seven siblings - Diane Asbury of Cincinnati, OH; John Wagner of Alexandria, KY; Daniel Wagner (Patty nee Florence) of Alexandria, KY; Debbie Palmer (Michael) of Erlanger, KY; Dave Wagner (Denise nee Tursany) of Alexandria, KY; Doug Wagner (Sharon nee Morgan) of Alexandria, KY; and Denise Schaufler (Michael) of Alexandria, KY. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews.

Donna was a 1968 Bishop Brossart Graduate. After the passing of her mother, she stayed at home to take care of her younger brothers and sisters. She worked as an architect assistant at P&G and later became a school bus driver for the Campbell County School District. She was employed for 31 years and retired in 2010. Donna received the “Kentucky Above and Beyond” award in 2009 from Frankfort, KY, in which she was nominated by her coworkers for her positive attitude, great work ethic, and bond with all her students. She loved singing songs with the kids and made sure each child received their own special birthday song as she made it fun for all. Her students loved riding her bus.

Donna had a very quick wit, sharp mind, and great sense of humor. She loved bike riding with her husband and spending time with her sons and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to yard sales, playing board games with her family, playing trivia, listening to Beatles music, cooking, gardening flowers, growing blackberries and being outside with nature. She liked to vacation in Daytona Beach with her husband and loved being in the Smoky Mountains. She enjoyed the peacefulness of the running streams, the sounds of birds and animals, and the tranquility and smell of nature. It was here that she felt more at peace than anywhere else.

She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

A celebration of life memorial will be held 10:30am-12:30pm on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home, 10759 Alexandria Pike, Alexandria, KY 41001. Flowers in memory of Donna can be sent to Cooper Funeral Home or a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of St. Elizabeth.
