Notes

Paul A. Holtz, 86, of Cold Spring, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

Paul worked at Cincinnati Bell and retired at the age of 59 in 1996 after 40 years of service. His interests were hunting, farming, planting and growing trees, gardening, winemaking with homegrown grapes and blackberries, and raising and breeding blue tick beagles for many years. He loved playing with his grandchildren and taking them on tractor rides.

Paul had a private business on his property called Evergreen Junction where he grew and sold Christmas trees, including white pine and Douglas fir. His favorite part of the business was sharing homemade wine and home-baked cookies with customers, friends, and family.

Paul was the oldest of seven children of the late Albert and Marie (nee Bertsch) Holtz. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Terrie Holtz-Lange, his brothers, Anthony and Arthur Holtz, and foster son, Lawrence LaRose-Holtz. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ellen Holtz (nee Kramer), daughters, Mary Ellen (Bob) Smith and Brenda (Steve) Reis, grandchildren, Keaton and Kendall Smith, Bekah and Mitchel Lange, Emily (Tyler) Barnes, Lauren and Liz Reis, great grandson, Hudson Barnes, siblings, John (Charlene) Holtz, Helen (Barry) Blank, Rita Heck, Tom (Linda) Holtz, sister-in-law, Jeannine Holtz, former sister-in-law, Mary Ann (nee Sogar) Holtz, former brother-in-law, Jim Heck and former son-in-law Randy Lange.

Visitation is 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Saturday, September 2, 2023 at St. Mary of the Assumption, Alexandria, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. We would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to the family. We met Brenda and Steve three years ago when we became neighbors and consider them good friends. So sorry for their loss, and even though we do not know Ellen we wish her peace and God's love in this trying time and always.

Sincerely,
Sherri and Steve McMillan
