Michelle E. Lanthier
Born 1954 – Died 2023
Michelle E. Lanthier, beloved sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, passed away at the age of 69 on January 17, 2023, in Fort Thomas, KY.
Michelle was born on December 30, 1954, in Los Angeles, CA, to Patricia (Easter) Lanthier and Xavier Henry Lanthier. Michelle graduated from Immaculata High School in Detroit, MI, in 1973. In 1988, she moved to be near her mother and sister in Cincinnati, OH, where she became a lifelong Bengals fan.
Passionate about fine dining and the culinary arts, Michelle spent most of her career in the foodservice industry. For several years, she was a captain on the wait staff at the Maisonette during the tenure of chef de cuisine Jean-Robert de Cavel and delighted her family with stories of the five-star restaurant. Michelle was quick to share her deep knowledge, always selecting the perfect wine pairing for a holiday dinner or giving advice on how best to accomplish a complicated recipe.
Michelle was fiercely intelligent and deeply interested in the world around her. A lifelong progressive Democrat, Michelle followed politics avidly and took pleasure in discussing the day’s news in detail with her sister, Kathryn. She loved music, especially The Beatles and The Grateful Dead. Michelle never quite made her family as obsessed with sports as she was, but her support for the Detroit Lions and Tigers and the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds is legendary and we will root for those teams in her honor.
The oldest of three children, Michelle took pride in her role as “big sister” and aunt. She shared her favorite books and Barbies–and later, her favorite makeup and kitchen products–with her nieces, to whom she was the epitome of cool. She enjoyed cards and games and could be wickedly competitive, especially while playing euchre. Above all, she had an amazing sense of humor: Michelle could make you laugh until you cried. We will carry the sound of Michelle’s distinctive laughter in our hearts.
Michelle is survived by her sister Kathryn (Neville) Lanthier, her brother Patrick Henri (Valerie) Lanthier, her nieces Clare Ploucha and Emma (Joseph) Belza and her nephews Lorenzo Tanner and Demetri Lanthier.
Funeral services will be private. Cooper Funeral Home is serving the family.

I am very sorry for the family's loss, even though I have not seen Michelle since the 80's, I have very fond memories as one of the crowd of Deadhead's she knew. She was a wonderful person. Peace to her loved ones.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Michelle Lanthier. I had the pleasure and privilege to call her a friend, and she brought much laughter and joy to my life, as I know she did for all who knew her.
While we had a friendly disagreement about the Reds and Bengals, we shared a passion for the Detroit Tigers and the Grateful Dead.
Although it seems as if her brightly burning flame has vanished, I know it burns on in all who knew Michelle.
In the words of one of her favorite Grateful Dead songs:
There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home
Sincerely,
Tom Hagerty
